Tomorrow is the day.
I'm in my hotel in Nottingham. I've checked the SATNAV - about an hour and ten minutes to Clumber Park from here. I know what time I'm going to get up, and what time I need to be on the road.
I've done my research. I know my prices.
Olympus are doing a free grip offer at the moment on the OM-D EM-5 and the EM-10, and as a result of attending the event I also get a £50 cash back voucher if I purchase an OM-D camera.
My aim (if possible) is to use an OM-D EM-5 with the 12-40mm PRO lens as much as I can. Based on price and features, I think this is a good starting combination for me if I am to go down the Olympus route. The EM-1 is just too pricey for my budget, but the EM-5 has weather sealing and a Live Bulb feature - all features that tick boxes for me.
Whilst I'm quite excited at the prospect of trying out some new gear, and of course having the chance to catch up with Steve Gosling, I'm also nervous. I'm nervous that the Olympus gear will not be what I'm looking for.
Then again, that is the whole point of doing this one day - to find out!
The forecast is for a bright and sunny day - not exactly ideal landscape weather, but to hell with it! I'm going to go and do what I'd normally do anyway and see what happens.
Clumber Park post code in the SATNAV = check
Notebook and pencil = check
SD card to keep my own images taken with the OM-D = check
Current camera for comparison = check
Tripod, head, and spare head plate = check
Factor 50 sun cream 'cos its going to be a scorcher tomorrow = check
Alarm set for tomorrow = check
