The Lakes are a beautiful, inspiring location for any artist, but late October early November sees this area bursting with finest, richest colours that nature can provide (although each autumn is unique - vibrant colour is NOT guaranteed). Add to that dramatic mountains, mirror still lakes, bubbling streams, and fantastic woodland and you have the perfect mix of subjects to get the creative juices fired up.
On Wednesday we will all meet up at an easily accessible location, and after having an introduction and catchup we will then spend the first part of the day exploring the potential nearby. Popular start points are the Grange Cafe in Grange, the cafe near Dodd Wood close the shore of Bassenthwaite, or the Theatre on the Lake at Derwent water in Keswick. The locations for the second and third days will be very much subject to what the weather provides, however they may include Ashness Bridge, Surprise View, Lodore Falls, Watendlath Tarn, Blea Tarn, Crummock Water, Grasmere, Hodge Close and quarry, Tarn Hows, High Brandlehow peir, woodland at Thirlmere, the falls at Stock Ghyll in Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge and Falls, or even Rydall Hall.
* The dates have been timed in order to avoid the UK schools autumn half term, and the weekend. This will make getting around the area and parking much easier.
** There MAY BE opportunities on the second and third mornings for sunrise outings, usually around Derwent Water or Castlerigg stone circle. Full details will be given during the workshop introduction on the start day and will be dependant on car parking availability at the days locations.
*** There has been an unfortunate price increase for 2019 due to the rising costs of accomodation and subsistence. My apologies, but this is unavoidable.
The workshop is restricted to six people to keep a small and friendly group, and give you all plenty of time with me on each day.
A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required to secure your place. If the workshop is cancelled by me, all monies paid to me, including the deposit, will be refunded. No further liability can be accepted. The participant is responsible for their own travel, accommodation, food and insurance costs.
