I use Lee filters. Its a personal choice, having tried other brands. They work for me, plain and simple, and I don't need to do any adjustments or tweaking afterwards to get the best out of them either. Simples.
Having made the decision to order an Olympus lens, it suddenly struck me at around 05:20 this morning that I had no idea what the diameter of this lens was and whether I'd have a filter ring that would fit it.
A quick check in between making the children's packed lunches revealed that I had a 58mm filter ring. It looked small enough...
... but a quick check in my well thumbed Olympus catalogue revealed the bad news. The 12-50mm has a 52mm diameter.
Darn it! 6 pigging millimetres!
Thank heavens for eBay. With most prices around the £40 mark for the Wide Angle version, I found an eBay seller doing one for £27 (including postage).
A quick question to check the auction - definitely the steel version, and definitely Wide Angle I asked - and the purchase was swiftly made.
So, since the workshop on Saturday, that's a camera, a lens, and a filter ring purchased.
I'm pretty sure I have everything else I need to "play" with my new toy when it arrives...
